Zach Osborne and Aaron Plessinger Win 2018 250SX Championships
The 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season wrapped up in Las Vegas last weekend. The stakes were high with all three championships being awarded in one night.
Monster Energy/Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger earned his first Supercross title, winning the 250SX West class. Plessinger needed to finish 10th or better to secure the championship. He turned in an 8th place finish in the East/West Showdown, finishing two points ahead of Adam Cianciarulo. In 10 rounds, Plessinger scored seven top five finishes including wins in Houston, Glendale, Oakland, and Seattle. Aaron was running Core Manual TorqDrive this season.
Zach Osborne of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing successfully defended his 250SX East championship from last year. Osborne needed to finish 12th place or better. He ended up with a 7th place finish, securing the championship by eight points. He was on the podium six times out of nine rounds, with wins coming in Arlington, St. Louis, and Foxborough. Zach and all of the Rockstar Husqvarna team run Core Manual.
In addition to the two 250SX championships, other Rekluse riders achieved great results.
In the 450SX class, Rockstar Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson secured his first title with a 5th place finish in Las Vegas. It is also Rockstar Husqvarna’s and Rekluse’s first 450SX title. Teammate Dean Wilson took 8th in Las Vegas, finishing 7th overall on the season. Mitchell Harrison ended the season in 8th place in the 250SX West points standings.
Smartop/MotoConcepts Racing Honda’s Justin Brayton finished the season 5th overall. He earned a podium spot 6 times this season, including his first career win in Daytona. Brayton utilized Core Manual TorqDrive.
TPJ Racing’s John Short finished 10th overall in the 250SX East standings. Short runs Core Manual TorqDrive.
Justin Starling brought home 12th overall in the 250SX West standings for AJE Motorsports. Starling also runs Core Manual TorqDrive.
“The Rekluse team is proud to have contributed to the success of individual riders and teams this Supercross season,” said Rekluse Race Program Manager Austin Paden. “Having a part in securing three championships with two separate factory programs has been surreal. We look forward to the future of our partnerships with these teams.”
